The All Progressives Congress (APC) Volunteer Network, South-East zone, has advised the party to either substitute the winner of the governorship primary poll in Anambra State, Dr Tony Nwoye, or risk losing the election.
The group threatened to mobilise its members and other APC supporters in the state to make sure that the party loses the election, should the party national leadership insist on Nwoye as its flag bearer in the November 18 governorship election.
The coordinator of the group in the South-east zone, Barrister Anene Chikezie, on Tuesday said the Anambra state APC leadership disappointed the “core members of the party” by allowing “new joiners and moneybags” to hijack the party.
Chikezie said the party has “abandoned those core members that suffered for it.”
He, however, said perceived divisions in the APC caused the circumstances that led to the emergence of Nwoye as the party’s ticket bearer to the detriment of the core members of the party and the party itself.
